TopHat/MSAM

TopHat is the name for our experiment that produces a map of the South Celestial Pole (from Antarctica). The telescope for this experiment is on top of a high-altitude balloon. The shape of the conical light shield and the foam stabilizer resembles a tophat.

MSAM is Medium-Scale Anisotropy Measurement, a series of experiments designed to characterize the variations in the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation at approximately 0.5 degree angular scales.
